She voted for witnesses knowing full well that it wouldnt pass but that her vote might appease her constituents who have had it with her great concern nonsense.
Nice political chess move, sweetie, but I dont think it will be enough to keep your senate seat this time around. And my intuition tells me that you wont vote to remove on Wednesday.

(15,369 posts)in other places believe that she got a pass from McConnnell on this because he already had the votes for blocking witnesses and that she should NOT get any credit for it.
So I think not.
But frankly, I have always thought that the phrase "have one's cake and ear it too" is senseless. Why else would one even want cake WITHOUT eating it?
I much prefer the French saying " avoir le beurre et l'argent du beurre" (to have one's butter AND the money for it).

(1,115 posts)They were given turns to vote for something. That was Moscow Mitch's consolation prize. Plus, the LAST thing any of those in tough races wanted was any witness. Then they would be forced to vote to convict which would draw a loony primary opponent.

(15,286 posts)once McConnell has 51 votes. I don't think she'll get credit for it with Maine voters.

(25,471 posts)Her move was calculated and a part of the GOP strategy. They're hoping it saves them a Senate seat.

(3,256 posts)As Schumer famously said about her: "She's always arouund with a vote when you don't need it." I actually despise her more than some of the more "honest" fascists bastards in the Senate. The minions of the press will keep up with the "moderate" label, but I think most voters are smarter than that. I can't think of any instances in her long and evil carreer where she bucked the party when it actually counted.

(2,030 posts)Upon reading this thread, this classic song popped in my head. I hope it becomes an anthem for those hoping to kick this two-faced, "I-will-only-serve-for-two-terms" hypocrite out of the Senate.
(By the way, this is my first post on DU. The impeachment trial put me over the edge and put an end to my lurking on the site. Love all y'all on the forums! You have been a great moral and emotional support over the past two years. And yes, my username LaMouffette is French for "the skunk." No particular reason I picked that beyond the fact that, well, I think skunks are cute.)
Keep Away from Runaround Sue
Here's my story, it's sad but true
It's about a girl that I once knew
She took my love then ran around
With every single guy in town
Yeah, I should have known it from the very start
This girl will leave me with a broken heart
Now listen people what I'm telling you
A keep away from a Runaround Sue yeah
I might miss her lips and the smile on her face
The touch of her hair and this girl's warm embrace
So if you don't want to cry like I do
A keep away from a Runaround Sue
Ah, she likes to travel around
She'll love you and she'll put you down
Now people let me put you wise
Sue goes out with other guys
Here's the moral of the story from the guy who knows
I fell in love and my love still grows
Ask any fool that she ever knew, they'll say
Keep away from a Runaround Sue

paleotn
(17,913 posts)will hurt her among wing nuts north of Augusta. Particularly if Dem operatives play it well. She's already cooked with independents and moderate Dems in the south, thus her horrible approval rating. Collins was between a rock and a hard place no matter what she did. The victim of shifting political trends in New England. *, McConnell, et al. have dragged their party so close to crazy town that conservative leaning Yankees can't support them anymore. And magats don't like wafflers of any kind to begin with. You're either with the orange emperor or you're agin' him. So, in short, she was cooked before the Senate fiasco even began.
