(70,696 posts)ON EDIT: O.K., I'm confused (which is not unusual for a Pisces). Wiki says he died in 2003. July 10, 1920 June 11, 2003.
So, is the quote referring to a previous event analogous to what we're going through now?

(70,696 posts)I was HUNTLEY-BRINKLEY when Walter was supposedly cool. David disappointed me mightily in his old age.
***********So, what kind of repercussions does Doug have in mind?

(171,066 posts)My parents watched them; were they the only game in town way back when? Anyway, Douglas was not specific iirc. I guess we wait and see. Maybe the crooked lot of 'em will be voted out. A girl can dream.

(23,238 posts)I suspect he refers to the likelihood of more "Levidence" (dewsgirl's imaginative term) coming to light in the days/weeks/(months?) ahead. Repugs are going to be feeling bombs exploding all around them for a long time to come. I won't be surprised if the House holds more hearings, and the tRump cabalists are going to feel fire at their feet as this goes forward. By November, we may be hunting GOPher senators with dogs, with no bag limit.

"Brinkley is the literary executor for his late friend, the journalist and author Hunter S. Thompson. He is also the editor of a three-volume collection of Thompson's letters. Brinkley is also the authorized biographer for Beat generation author Jack Kerouac, having edited Kerouac's diaries as Windblown World (2004)."
