The Westminster Tower is about to sound a paean to the UK's membership in the EU

Sitting here across the channel in France, it's a sad moment for me. Both for what it will mean for the UK and for what it means for Europe. The last real liberal government left alive in the EU is Macron's, and that's as illiberal as liberal government gets.

I'm sorry to see the UK leave the EU. I'm sorry to think this grand experiment has reached a highwater. There will be more expansion, probably, but a moment has passed. And I fear it has passed to all of our detriment.

I several British friends; English, Scots, Irish.
All but one are against it.
