The GOP is just part of covering up Trumps illegal and impeachable actions. He Abused his Power, he and his people covered it up and Obstructed Congress. These Republican Senators who vote to end the Trial without Witnesses and Evidence will go down in History as people who sided with Corruption over Justice, and Politics over Country.

Schiff points out that Judge Jackson has already ruled re Executive powers - "We don't have kings here" and advisors are not immune from process. Congress does have power to subpoena and power to compel, because without that power Congress cannot truly legislate.

eta Bolton cannot at this point explain why he doesn't testify vs 'saving it for the book.' Should ask Bolton about it in person, to find out why he is willing to go before the Senate but not the House.

He is knocking it out of the park.

For starters, the Founders would be confused by the words "phone records" and "Republican."

More than that, they'd be "aghast" that Congress -- which they placed in Article I for a reason -- rolled over for a president who had so clearly abused the powers of his office.

Our Founders would be “aghast” if they knew Adam Schiff released private phone records of a journalist and the top Republican on his committee.

Apparently there is an expectation that each Senator would have up to 15 minutes for remarks which would potentially mean 25 more hours of final "debate" before the vote to convict or acquit - and the timing of that into the weekend and/or through to possible Wednesday. The issue is whether to go late tonight and into tomorrow or end now and start that tomorrow...etc.

Wikipedia:

In the context of war, perfidy is a form of deception in which one side promises to act in good faith (such as by raising a flag of truce) with the intention of breaking that promise once the unsuspecting enemy is exposed (such as by coming out of cover to attack the enemy coming to take the "surrendering" prisoners into custody). Perfidy constitutes a breach of the laws of war and so is a war crime, as it degrades the protections and mutual restraints developed in the interest of all parties, combatants and civilians.
