Are you FUCKING kidding me??? She said no to save CJ Roberts from looking bad when he would sit on his hands and not tie-break.

(557 posts)she is right about the Senate not giving a fair trial, but she is a liar to say Congress did not do their job. All these traitors has to go and I hope her folks back home haunt her day and night. We need a miracle.

(15,951 posts)and you did, too, Murkowski. If you really thought there should be witnesses you should vote for it anyway.

(6,531 posts)And then she basically cuts and runs. This won't be forgotten. The most middle of the road for fear of offending anyone I have ever seen. It makes no sense.

(2,391 posts)Collins new she could safely vote for witnesses without consequence, and Murkowski is trying to look like an understanding moderate with her "Look, I'm sad and I know it's not fair" shtick while voting against witnesses and evidence.
Neither stood up for Democracy. They are both just as bad as McConnell and the rest of the cabal.

(18,770 posts)Same for Alexander's statement. And John Kelly came out today and said the trial is a farce.

(63,645 posts)Read Murkowski's quite closely. She has managed to craft an explanation that laments the process, without actually indicating what went wrong or which side she is on.
"I have come to the conclusion that there will be no fair trial in the Senate." Who is responsible for that? Murkowski doesn't say.
"I dont believe the continuation of this process will change anything." Sadly true.
"It is sad for me to admit that, as an institution, the Congress has failed." Failed how? By pursuing impeachment in the first place, or by failing to consider the evidence in a good-faith way? Murkowski lets the listener fill in the blanks.
It's times like these when the "sensible centrists" end up looking like the most cynical and cowardly of them all.
