(20,998 posts)...which goes to prove the GOP* and other miscreants are not fighting to save tRump*, they are fighting to save themselves. ALL OF THEM were in on the Ukraine scam. And this is why #MoscowMitch is fighting so hard NOT to have witnesses testify... All it would take would be someone in the know to testify and this whole thing would blow up.

(5,812 posts)I am wondering where he is licensed to practice. Knowingly misleading a tribunal -- can be a reason for disbarment.

(1,990 posts)If a criminal defense attorney knows his/her client is guilty because the client has said so, then the attorney can't argue that his/her client didn't commit the crime(they could offer a defense, but can't argue they didn't do it). I am pretty sure Cipollone has stated that Trump never pressured anyone.
TruckFump
(5,812 posts)Cannot mislead a tribunal. I can be grounds for disbarment, but most certainly it is grounds for some kind of discipline if knowingly done.
ScratchCat
(1,990 posts)Yeh, I was just giving one example. An attorney misleading any proceeding is not good. He looks to be in deep doo. Another head scratching decision by someone to practically throw their career away for no good reason.
TruckFump
(5,812 posts)...he was a complete fool to get involved. But...then...he is a corrupt Republican who works for Trump -- that most likely is far more than being foolish! Being a witness and misrepresenting is bad enough and IMO grounds for discipline. But actual involvement in the scheme??? Wow...that is so over the top.

(58,785 posts)with all these bombshells that keep exploding in and around his fake trial. Cipollone carried this one in strapped to his back, though, when everyone must have known Bolton was holding the detonator.

(58,785 posts)in the middle of the fake trial, but a series on delayed fuses. To begin, Trump never told McConnell he had the manuscript in December and what it said. Just let McConnell march onto the field and then boom!!!!. Possibly throwing him along with Republican control of the senate under the bus. And boom, boom, boom ever since.
This latest is reportedly a big one, right under McConnell's feet.
And turns out the book is scheduled to come out in 3 weeks, not next fall.

(14,152 posts)This underhanded ploy is reminiscent of what Nunes pulled. He was jetting all around Europe building a strong case to help King of Orange exonerate himself.
Then Nunes came back to the US House to examine possible wrong doings by the same King of Orange.
A witness of fact and a finder of fact can not play both sides of the table.

(30,613 posts)When the C-Span camera finally showed Cipollone, he was visibly shocked and shaken, staring at Schiff. Fucking priceless.
Schiff read the NYT report, which cites Bolton as claiming Cipollone was in the room when Trump ordered Bolton to participate in strong-arming Zelenskyy. Bolton says he refused.

(21,348 posts)Dems are wasting their time talking about doing what is fair. Hammer them about Cipollone and infer that he lied. Hammer them about Bolton's new evidence, repeat it. I hope they save enough time for Schiff to rebuff the Republican lies. Schiff looks pissed. He glared at Cipollone.
