Called for jury duty in criminal court. My panel (among 8 or 9 others) was called in for selection and voix dire. Judge announced was trial for murder in the first degree.

I am firmly opposed to the death penalty, and I thought I would have to tell them that I could not vote to convict if it was a death penalty case ... until I remembered that the death penalty had been removed in my state. I then had to just ponder whether I could be fair. I thought would have to say yes. Fortunately, the jury selection was completed before my panel was called.
