Is it possible that this sham of a trial will invigorate the democrats to show up in droves?

Most of my friends are so angry about this last few days that they are energized to get out the vote against this tyrant. I have heard that the right is energized because he was impeached, and make no mistake, no matter what happens this week he was still impeached, I don't see it. They are smug and feel they "have it in the bag" with this President's reelection.

Get people pissed enough to vote every single Republican bastard in the Senate out. Hold the House.

That way if Trump wins - we've got the board set up to make him stroke out in the 2nd terms - then go after Pence with a vengeance.

I can already see the attacks on Joe Biden escalating, with Trump now able to say that, since he was acquitted, he was right in investigating Biden.

Just like George McGovern in 1972, Trump and his thugs have selected Democratic candidates that they want to run against.

The question is how many of the sleeping middle wake up and realize that through their apathy, the republic is dying?

Unfortunately only like 10 million people have been watching/listening, so by November it will be along party lines, with a few percent making the diff, as always.

...yes...but

...I think we need a HUGE nationwide lawyer team of Democratic Election First Responders to rapidly and aggressive challenge in court anything and everything questionable the republicans may try to do between now, the election and thereafter...

...amass a huge volume of questionable republican activities to present to the American people to delegitimatize a republican stolen election...

...EVERYTHING...

...trump and the republicans will steal this election out from under us if we let them...

In their closed door meetings, McConnell was able to convince them this won't matter come the Fall, let's make him wrong.

And also, McConnell was bribing them too, campaign money will be flowing into the coffers of the swing votes on this.

Any Democrats that are paying attention will be angry and will definitely show up.

They would likely show up anyone since they are the type that pays attention to this.

Any Democrats not paying attention, won't be angry, since they aren't watching and are apathetic to it. These are precisely the people that don't show up.

To the extent that this energizes the left or the right, and I believe it does, I suspect it might do so equally. I'd like to think that it energizes Democrats more than Republicans, but I've not seen any evidence of that in either direction.

It also doesn't help that the election is 11 months away.

get people off their asses to vote against the Golden Calf. I truly believe that they don’t put forth the effort because they don’t think their vote or opinion does any good and the fact that the Golden Calf got away with bribery proves their point in their mind. He’s gotten away with every offense with no consequences.

Memories don’t last more than a week.

I’m sorry to be a Debbie Downer. We’re going down the shitter because of apathy in the populace.

Isn't it also possible that all of the proclaiming that his acquittal, which was a forgone conclusion before the proceedings began, equals dictatorship and the statements that the election is already fixed will de-energize voters? That many will stay home rather than waste their time casting a vote that they have been repeatedly told is meaningless?
