In the long arc of political history what is going to happen today will eclipse the long list of
evil that has been perpetrated by the Republican Party on the American people. From Reagan to the Bush(s), McCarthy to Nixon, American apartheid to voter suppression, hate and cruelty, we have been in the vortex of Republican efforts to undermine and outright destroy the original intent of the Founders of this democratic republic.
What the republicans do today, setting trump free sans witness testimony, will finally destroy them. They had a very public opportunity to demonstrate that they put country first, even if it was superficial. They will expose their true ugliness; contempt for the American constitution, disrespect for the American people, love of naked power and greed. No one will be able to defend the actions they commit today.
Freeing trump to inflict himself further on America will be the moral equivalent of setting Coronavirus free to infect the world. This moral albatross will never be lifted from the necks of this criminal party. Nor should it be. Trump threatened to put their heads on a pike if they voted against him. I think they are going to put their heads on their own pikes, if they can get them out of their asses.
America is not what the Republican Party represents. Thus their desperate need for voter suppression. 33% of America is alleged to be ignorant, racist and corrupt. Deplorable. This Republican base can be defeated. We don’t need to fix their ignorance, racism, cruelty and corruption. Just crush them in the up coming elections. They are giving us all the ammunition, motivation and desire to do so.
That we can and must do this in November is the real take away from the fake Republican impeachment trial.
