Cipollone and Philbin sound like something happened.

They seem somewhat off kilter, like they are sensing something. Maybe Murkowski’s questioned alarmed them.

CNN reported Murkowski and Alexander had dinner together. Alexander sent McConnell a note.

Maybe, fingers crossed, they got bad news. Let us hope.

he is first, since the vote alphabetically.

If he votes for witnesses, perhaps other repubs will feel they have the cover to go also.

GOP just creates a lot of drama and enjoys the game of frustrating the libs more than anything else. They would rather dangle this production for a week and grab headlines, back and forth and first no we don't have the votes, then yes we do, no wait these two are talking, those two are stunned, and then in the end they relish in defeating us by ONE vote rather than strictly party line ... they would rather a 50-50 than a 47-53. It makes us angrier. We are being played all along and we're fools to buy into it.

Am told psychologically, squashing hope is an effective authoritarian tactic

keep the faith in the wisdom of the American people no matter the shenanigans of all of the president's cronies.

Dream on. Nothing good could come from the Repukes allowing witnesses. They have only to lose, not to gain. Forget the idea of it happening.

Last question from Alexander, Murkowski etc was why bother calling Bolton since even if he confirms the worst of the other evidence, it's not impeachable.

Do the right thing, vote for witnesses. Vote to convict. You were a good governor and, I once thought, a man of integrity. Show that you still are or you obit will read: "Lamar Alexander, who sided with trump..."

Is that how you want to be remembered? Do you think that is that how your children and grandchildren want you remembered?
