Alan Dershowitz is saying: "And furthermore Thomas Jefferson's wife never said a word about impeachment. . . . Are we going to pretend we are closer to the events of that day and the framers' mind? . . . That would be, I respectfully submit, absurd."

"After all, who are your going to believe: the greatest president this country has ever known or lying John Bolton? . . . It boils down to a matter of credibility."

An owl hooted in the distance. Ken Starr slept in the chair next to me, dressed in a stained blue dress and dreaming of impeachments past. I discovered a very important historical fact. I found several. Facts that will amaze you. First, our founding fathers did not care a shit of the popularity of a president during impeachment. Indeed, they don't even care about it during the election hence the electoral college. Perhaps, they were unable to understand the idea of the total unimportance of snap-polls in the 1800s. Second, they didn't define high crimes, almost as if the entire legal code was not written yet. The president is not accused of a crime here. He's committed one, probably several, but he's not accused of one. Sure obstruction of justice is sort of a crime. Sure, attempted bribery is sort of a crime. Sure, maybe I did take those underpants off. But I'm not accused of it! Next I discovered, that making senators have the sads was not a criterea for not impeaching a president. I know, I was amazed. I'm having the sads right now as we speak. So, forget the evidence, or the fact I'm not going to ask to face one accuser to cross examine them or produce a witness to contradict the facts placed into evidence. Instead, I'm going to wear underpants and beg for that one guy from West Virginia to pretend anything I've said here today gives him an excuse to vote against impeachment because the people of West Virginia deserve better representation than either of their senators give them. But most important of all. All our founding fathers clearly never said, but absolutely meant, that if the president is a nit-wit, you must acquit.
