I. Don't. Trust. Bolton.

I find myself trying to figure out his angle. I know it is not the truth, the good of the country and our Constitution that motivate him. His history and the fact that he has sat on this for months make me doubt that it is anything but self-interest.

Book sales? - probably not enough
Revenge? - Maybe.
Future position? - unlikely
Failed blackmail? - sort of fits.
Double-cross where the leaks were staged and in testimony he denies? - Too scary to contemplate.

But there are ways to get a few fake pages inserted into a poorly secured manuscript. It's the sort of thing Rove would have done.

I don't know where he goes after this. The left will never have him. He will be a pariah of the right. Sure there are organizations that will have him due to the titles he's had (which are ridiculous) but he'll vanish from the public eye.

Bolton and whoever is advising him probably planned this with maximum sales in mind.

At this point in time I’m not exactly sure why we want witnesses. It’s painfully obvious at this point that the republicans and their supporters care nothing for oaths.

Any republican “witness” you put on the stand is not going to worry about lying under oath. They’ve learned there is no consequence for it.

Any favorable “witness” you want to put on the stand, the republicans are going to use their majority to deny, or if they can’t do that, the presidents defense team will tell lies, accuse the witness of lying, and trumps base will do fist bumps.

What we get out of this is the on record votes of seated republicans to use against them in upcoming elections. That’s really a best case scenario here.

but, what is his book worth if he says something different in front of the Senate, while under oath?

That's the part I cling to.

If he claims the leak story is false and it turns out the book backs Trump. Every Trumper will buy five copies for their Momma.

Has Bolton publicly confirmed the authenticity yet?

He’s as unstable as they come, like a load of nitroglycerin in a buckboard.

Even Trump— Trump!— was supposedly put off Bolton’s appetite for preemptive war and regime change(s).

All signs point to “steer clear” when it comes to Bolton.
