I could imagine the Republican senators from half a century ago voting to remove Orange Julius from office, either out of principle (A few of them) or to cut their losses (More likely). But today’s Republican Party is a very different critter from what it was then. I doubt today’s Republican senators have either the gumption or the principal, even the ones in safely-red states not facing voters until 2024.

Even with every witness and no matter what the testimony. Every single one of them - including Romney and Collins will find excuses. And they don't care how lame the excuses are because they are terrified of the Trump base.

Being a coward is not just a requirement for a Republican to hold public office, it's a feature.

This "Trial" now turns on Bolton and whatever can corroborate Bolton. Even if it's all the lies to cover it all up. We are two chess moves from "Checkmate!" But do those moves exist?

Mon Jan 27, 2020, 04:47 PM

(who they will promptly ignore) so they won't seem so obvious when they actually say, in effect, "so fucking what, there is not a damn thing that he could do that would make us impeach him. Nada. Zilch. NOTHING. We are "bought and paid for" whores of Vladimer Putin."

Then they can add to it, "We've already got the votes all lined up."

The pisser is that they will be talking about the rigging of the NOVEMBER EC vote, not the vote to NOT impeach. THAT vote is a given. For November we can take the "One person, One vote" farce and shove it up our collective asses.

It just takes 4 repub votes to hear the witnesses, but 67 total to remove. They will allow 66, maximum. Selected senators in swing districts who need to "appear" fair. They have received their marching orders.

Remember, the turd has now publicly stated that he could even lose the popular vote by 5,000,000, and still win the EC vote....

Unfortunately the American Public is now so ignorant or hate filled (FAUX news watchers), or jaded (bothsiderism), to rouse themselves up from their couches of 24/7 enter/infotainment, and actually DO SOMETHING about it.

We may have the votes, but they have the hackers, who very carefully made sure that although Hillary received almost 3,000,000 MORE votes than pootie's sock puppet, he managed to squeeze just enough votes in the perfectly selected three states, to get the 70,000 that gave him the EC. Yes, I adamantly believe they COULD AND DID just that. Putin didn't hack voter databases, or election systems, without purpose. To say he did, or that it wasn't possible, is nothing but "ostrich with head in sand" thinking.

I'm back to my pessimistic side of the pendulum swing...

Right now, trump is actually the only President that could be the first in history to be removed.

Unfortunately, it's more likely that he becomes the first president in history to be acquitted.

There's not a single gop Senate member that will vote to remove trump, no matter what the evidence is.

They literally could have video tape of trump committing every single thing that he's accused of, and they still wouldn't vote to remove him.
