Trump Planning How to Celebrate Likely Acquittal
January 27, 2020 at 7:05 am EST By Taegan Goddard

Politico: “President Trump is already itching to broadcast the series finale of his impeachment. In recent days, he and top White House aides have been considering how he should celebrate his presumed acquittal by the Republican-controlled Senate and whether he should deliver a rare Oval Office address to mark the occasion.”

1. He was always going to be acquitted. 2. We celebrated his impeachment and you can bet he is going to celebrate his acquittal. 3. He will use an address AND the SOTU to absolutely hammer Democrats, pump his fist and claim vindication. The 2020 election has started. I only wish, or hope, we have a candidate that will refer to him as a racist and impeached President at every turn. We need a bully to fight this bully. Absent, Beto, I don't know if we do. Goddamn I miss Bill.Clinton and James Carville in times like this.

Bill Clinton was humble and contrite for his actions—which were wrong but nowhere close to impeachment worthy—and asked for reconciliation amongst all Americans of all political stripes.

Trump will be the polar opposite of this. He will be insufferable and only further emboldened to act out in terrible ways.

Remember the phone call at the center of this scandal happened the day after the Mueller testimony, which many people (unfairly) criticized as falling flat. (For the record, it did not.)

There's a heap of incriminating evidence and new witnesses appearing every day. The GOP is going to screw themselves if they sweep it all under the carpet. They're certainly trying but it's becoming more apparent that's a losing strategy.
