5. Bolton as a witness will open the door for other witnesses and documents.

Once those two items kick into place, the pace of the trial slows to where there is absolutely no way it will be finished by the SOTU. Instead of a rally-type victory lap we'll be witness to a complete meltdown in front of the entire world, proving conclusively that Fat Donnie is mentally incompetent and should not be trusted with the nuclear launch codes.

7. It's not actually about trying to make a difference with them.

Those guys are a lost cause. 1/3 of them are hopeless sychophants, another 1/3 are being blackmailed, and the other 1/3 are purely in it for the dark money. No one is actually expecting a single one of them to suddenly grow a spine.

It's about putting them in a box. It's about putting them on the record supporting increasingly higher levels of corruption as more and more direct evidence comes out. It's about pissing off the public so much about these guys that Democrats end up taking back the Senate in 2020.
