Remember how everyone turned against Carter because they had either gone to the war or lost loved ones in the war because of the draft, and how upset they were that draft evaders were granted amnesty?

Yeah, me neither. Americans didn't used to think everything was a zero sum game between them and everyone else. But ever since Reagan, it's been fashionable.
