The story says this recording of Trump & Lev Parnas (who he’s repeatedly said he doesn’t know) talking about taking out Yovanovitch was made by Igor Fruman. Unless it was somehow in Parnas’ cache of materials, this could imply Fruman is also cooperating.

Appearance of that tape of Trump firing Yovanovitch isn't so much the tape as the hint that Igor Fruman is joining Parnas in turning on the President

2/ Fruman made the original recording. Parnas's lawyer says the tape didn't come from his client. Fruman's lawyer declined comment. Not proof. But strongly suggests Fruman leaked it or had someone do so as intermediary.

It doesn't really seem to matter who's cooperating. Remember all the cooperating witnesses during the Mueller investigation. Flynn is still not in jail, even though it seems he has stopped cooperating. The Trump accountant cooperated, and we've seen squat-all. Parnas is spilling beans daily, and nothing seems to be happening. Giuliani is incriminating himself and his employer every day. Nothing. Trump admitted in Davos that he has the evidence, the Dems don't have the evidence. Old news. Reports that the Russians funded Trump's Deutsche Bank loans. IOW, he reportedly owes 2 billion dollars to Russian oligarchs. I must have missed all the front page reporting on that one. Lots of ooohs and aaaahs, but then. . . crickets.

And today's "head on a pike" and "take her out" revelations? Wanna bet what happens with that? I'll go out on a limb here. Nothing. Zip. Zilch. Nada.

I had taken some comfort in Frank Rich's essay that everyone eventually gets their comeuppance. You know what I think now? They won't. Collins, Lindsey, McConnell, Romney, Murkowski, et al. They will not pay a price. Shame? They have none. They. Don't. Care. Is it any wonder we're all so fucking depressed and exhausted. Well, at least I am.

My latest consolation is that some - all? - of the actions by Trump and his minions will rise to the level of criminality somewhere along the way and that the DoJ will bring charges when they are all out of office. But, despite Elizabeth Warren's assertion today that if elected she will release all impeachment-related documentation, I have a feeling that whatever Dem is elected will choose to look forward. They are going to need some awfully large rugs to sweep all this shit under. And a multi-year supply of Febreze to reduce the stink.

One more random thought. Regarding anonymous voting in the Senate (which won't happen, so this is kind of a pointless conclusion to this post). There are 53 republicans, 45 Democrats, and 2 Independents. Assume all Dems and Indepdendents vote to remove. That leaves 21 (one more than is required) republicans who need to vote to remove. Let's assume - and this is a stretch - that some republicans want him out for the same reasons we do and for others that might be personal to them. If 21 vote to remove, this will leave republicans and their personality cult in a major tizzy trying to figure out who were the 21 turncoats and who were the 32 loyalists. Every one of them could, if they liked, assert that they voted to acquit. We would know full well that 21 of them are lying, and we might never know who. It's an out. But they are likely listening to that "head on a pike" comment and will probably follow the party line, like the good little fascists that they are.

The Trump Titanic has hit an iceberg. Trump has prevented ship's officers from investigating that loud bump, and no one is allowed below decks to look for leaks. Trouble is we're all traveling on this Ship of State.
