Trump has spent his whole life doing...well...not much.
Oh, he "makes deals."
But being President is the most work Trump has done in his entire life, and he doesn't like it.
He likes the pomp and pageantry, but the work bothers him.
So perhaps he's sabotaging his own "defense" with appointing as his lawyers political hacks, and bragging about his misdeeds.
So he gets removed from office, and Pence gives him a pardon.
Trump "retires" to one of his big mansions, and maybe dictates to a ghostwriter about all the wonderful things he did.

(13,571 posts)and there's no guarantee of a pardon. He could be arrested the moment he leaves office, in some scenarios.
Pence can't pardon him.

(51,638 posts)When he first heard he was elected he was shocked because he really didn't want to win, he just did the whole thing as a publicity stunt to make money off of his name/"brand". But when the crimes started adding up he knew he had to stay in or else go to the pokey. When asked, "What would the older tRump tell the younger tRump?", after his first year in, he replied, "Don't run and become the president" and he was serious.
Also, it's too much work for him (even though he golfs most of the time).

(32,095 posts)he wouldn't be threatening GOP Senators (as per CBS) against his removal if that were the case. Trump might not like having to work, but he LOVES the power that comes with it, and I don't see him wanting to let go of it ever.
