It's not particularly clever to begin with. But blurring the lines between what's real and what isn't in this way is, in time, very dangerous. We're having a hard enough time maintaining people's belief in truth as it is.

So, anyway, to spell it out a little clearer, the concern is that if everyone starts throwing Deep Fakes all over the place, when Trump finally DOES get around to shooting someone on 5th Avenue on video, good ol' Billy Bob Stumblefuck, in a fly-over state with a disproportionate number of electoral votes, is going to have his ready-made excuse to completely dismiss the video, and the truth, as a lie, and keep voting Trump. Just as an example.

Using technology in this way is pushing the bounds of media ethics and it needs to be addressed. We're far enough down the rabbit hole.
