...thought the senate chaplain did an excellent job calling on senators to take this job seriously and to be able to do it with a clean conscience.

I realize, of course, that having a clean conscience presumes that one has a conscience, so the chaplain’s words will fall on some deaf ears. Still, he chose his words very well.

My bile rose when the "convocation" was announced; then I listened closely for references to Jesus; then it dawned on me that he was laying it down pretty well for the Republican senators.

I guess everything isn't black or white after all.
