The end of our democratic republic may be near.

It is a given fact that the Republicans have been determined since the time of Nixon to transform the presidency into a virtual dictatorship over the last fifty years. They have pursued a radical interpretation of Article II of the Constitution that would give the presidency unlimited powers that contradict the basic form of government formulated by the Founders on the separation of power and its inherent checks and balances.

If the Republicans are successful in defeating the challenge to Trump's gross abuse of Presidentual power the congress with be relegated to a meaningless assembly whose sole function will be to ratify any measure taken by the president.

They at present have control of the Supreme Court, the Senate and the courts have been flooded with Federalist Society judges and the office of Attorney
General who support this radical interpretation. Many have been sounding the alarm that we are in the grips of fascists who have attack every aspect required for the functioning of a transparent democratic society. They have employed the fascists tactics that they are true Nationalists, while stirring up patriotic frenzy, as Professor Britt noted, to the need to eliminate racial, ethnic or religious minorities, liberals etc.; the supremacy of the military and glorification of the military service; rampant sexism with anti-gay legislation; especial attack of the liberal media; they pose as the protectors of religion and alignment with fundamentalists; they strive to protect every corporate interest and the suppression of organized labor. They have a distain for the intellectuals and appeal to the uneducated as being true Americans. They are not above manipulation of the elections as they have demonstrated with laws suppressing the votes of minorities and young educated voters along with ridiculously contrived gerrymandered precincts.

I can only conclude that while we slept, our children's future is being destroyed.

Donnie's forthcoming acquittal is merely another bit of evidence in a long chain that proves it.

They are creating multiple calamities. They are testing their own faith by hanging on with their disastrous party. They are hoping their Lord will save them if things get real bad. In reality, it will be the Democrats who will save them, if they can.
