In Trump's Defence ...

He refuses to disclose his tax returns because he’s a humble guy, and doesn’t want to be seen as bragging about how fabulously wealthy he really is.

He meets with Putin in secret, because he’s been trying for years to get Vlad’s grandmother’s closely-guarded borscht recipe.

He won’t release documents authored by staffers because some of them contain spelling/grammar mistakes, and he’s extremely touchy about that kind of incompetence.

He won’t release the unredacted version of the Mueller Report because it totally exonerates him, and he’s just not an I-told-you-so kind of guy.

He locked migrant kids in cages because he worries about them crossing the street in a strange country, where they could get hit by a car.

He lies all the time as a test for journalists – if they fail to point out his lies, he knows they’re not doing their jobs.

He won’t allow those with firsthand knowledge to testify because they’ll just go on and on about how he’s the best pResident ever – and he gets embarrassed by that kind of unfettered adulation.

He won’t release audiotapes of his phone calls with Zelensky because they would be useless, given their discussions were in Ukrainian only – one of the twenty-two languages Trump is fluent in.

He cancelled Pence’s trip to Zelensky’s inauguration because it might include one-on-one interactions with women, and he didn’t want to cause a rift between his VP and Mother Pence.

He uses unsecured cell phones because he doesn’t want our intelligence agencies to leak his sweeping future plans for combating climate change.

He spends hours ‘tweeting’ demeaning remarks about the people who oppose him to demonstrate that, contrary to popular belief, he actually does do things between golf games.

He appoints inept, inexperienced people to positions of power in an effort to ‘be fair and balanced’, because these posts have been held far too long by competent, experienced people who actually know what they’re doing.

He stated that the Nazis and white supremacists in Charlottesville were “very fine people” because he’s a uniter, not a divider, who wants to promote a more inclusive America that embraces differing ideologies.

Please add your own “defences” …
