9. It really, really hurts to say this, but

I'm beginning to think that the days of the great American republic are coming to a close. The US is too big, too rich (off the backs of the workers) and too corrupt (government) to survive much longer.

I recall an NPR commentator saying, prior to the 2016 election, that America had already entered its second gilded age, and he could not see how it could be cured. A democracy requires participation by, and input from, its populace, but it appears that the only input with any "juice" is, who has the most money. The fact that the SCOTUS could not foresee the damage that Citizens United would cause basically meant that Lady Justice's scales will never be righted. The lack of a Federal Elections Commission with teeth has meant that one can have no faith in election results.

I guess it's not surprising that a corrupt Trump became an even more corrupt President, and it's surely not at all surprising that he shows, each and every day, that he has no use for the Constitution. It's very apparent that he is Putin's puppet, and that he has damaging evidence (or at least threatens damage) on each and every one of the the Republicans in Congress. They bow down to him, and their morality is non-existent. Without a SCOTUS, a Congress and a President respecting the Constitution please tell me how the republic can survive?

And the sad thing is -- you all had SO MUCH going for you. Then again, to whom much is given, much is expected......
