Do you know about Dorothy Parker's connection to Dr. Martin Luther King?

The two never met, but she was so moved by the civil rights struggle that she left her estate to him. When he was killed less than a year after her death, the estate was passed to the NAACP.

Dorothy was one of the most quotable people ever, and she seemed incredibly bright. I hadn’t heard that info - thanks for sharing it - but it doesn’t surprise me.

Men! They hail you as their morning star
Because you are the way you are.
If you return the sentiment
They try to make you different . . .

And when they have you safe and sound
They try to change you all around
Your moods and ways they put a curse on
They'd make of you another pers-on
They cannot let you go your gait
They must "influence" and "educate"
They alter all that they admired
They make me sick. They make me tired.
