When greed is good, and everything for a buck is the major sentiment of the movers and shakers, with no regard for others, or the future of our planet or species, what is that called?

Capitalism.

Make the profits, and pass the "bad stuff" off to others. The more effective you are at this the better off you are.

You can get rich!

Zero regard for the future of mankind, our children, our grandchildren, or our wold.

Make $$$$ and to hell with the rest.

Well, I am getting tired of people telling me how wonderful Capitalism is. In 30 years it is game over FOR THE EARTH in my opinion (from what I've read). The only way to solve "climate change" is if someone can make money off the solution? Really? Gimme a break.

Someday we're gonna have to wake up and see how a greed before all else lifestyle plays out in the long run. It's probably too late.

Say goodbye to the billion critters in Australia. I hope they had good lives before they burned to death.

It's not like anyone is going to stop flying, driving, or cruising so much to save OUR SPECIES right?

It is my understanding that one or maybe two of the extinction events were caused by warming of the planet which itself was caused by an increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

The Ordovician Mass Extinction was probably caused by the uplifting of the Appalachian mountains that exposed silicate rock which sucked CO2 out of the air and sent the planet into a freeze.

The Devonian Mass Extinction was probably caused by the spread of newly evolved plant life which caused a decrease in greenhouse gas which chilled the planet.

The Permian Mass Extinction was caused by climate change produced by greenhouse gas but there is debate about that.

The Triassic-Jurassic Mass Extinction is actually a series of extinction evens that took place over the course of several million years and it's believed that climate change was the cause.

The The K-T Mass Extinction was the end of the dinosaurs and other life and an asteroid or meteor impact is credited for it.

2. Captalism: Profit is everything!

Coal: Mine it, because it is worth it to sell it. (Never mind the ecological disaster mining causes.)
Burn it, because it makes electricity, because that means profit. (Never mind the rising CO2 levels.)

To add to the 'Australia is a shithole county' story:

100,000 tonnes of 'recyclable' waste have been left lying around by a recycling company, Cleanaway, because it is too contaminated for it to be recycled. Papers not clean, jars and cans not washed, etc.
The government has approved of that material being dumped as general rubbish.

Two or three minor points:

1. Households are blamed for not separating their recyclables properly.

2. Recyclers want to to it quick and dirty, separate out the different recyclables, dump it into freight containers, sell to China.
(No profit in doing thorough separation, or recycling inside Australia.)
The Chinese have said: no more please!

3. A lot of plastics are marked as recyclable. But there are so many types of plastics, separating them into their chemical groups doesn't fit in with the high speed conveyor belts or the 2 or 4 guys sorting stuff.

4. Soft plastics can't be recycled. All those single use plastics, wrappings, etc. Local stores have a deposit bin for that, it supposedly goes off to make outdoor furniture, playground stuff. Feels good, but at the end of the day - does it just end up in the dumpster out back?

So yeah, capitalism and the need for profit - going to be (is) destroying the human race.
