I watched the entire first episode and now I'm depressed. I have never watched Faux News EVER and I had a hard time sitting through watching clips from that. I've also never gone on Breitbart but had to see the type of stuff they put out. All in all, being a person who's been around for seven plus decades, this was depressing to see how far we've fallen.
I sobbed (once again) as they went over the Sandy Hook shooting of children and our President Obama crying. I got choked up at the reminder of him singing Amazing Grace.
I don't know if I will continue on to watch Part 2. I can't believe how far my country has fallen.
And don't get me started on how much time they allotted to Sarah Palin. Ugh. They made it look like she was so powerful and she was the one who started us down this path.

(15,550 posts)The hate in this country just boggles my mind. How small do some people's lives have to be to be so full of hatred?

(63,221 posts)important and political for MLK day, but I am now thinking that it might be too depressing, especially after your review. I think I will probably watch "Selma" or another film about the civil rights struggle instead.
Maybe when things start looking up a bit I will be brave enough to watch it, but right now I feel too vulnerable and downhearted to take it on.

(15,550 posts)It was just a huge recap of all the awful things the Republicans did to President Obama and the virulent racism and white supremacy that reared its ugly head during his time in office. I just lost faith in our ever becoming what I think our country could be if the will was only there.

(40,168 posts)It's not pretty, but it is real, especially part II.
It is what we must fight to reverse.

(15,550 posts)I do think I'll watch it, but not tomorrow. I know we have to keep fighting, but it seems like an uphill battle every single day.

Vow to defeat Trump and all he stands for at every opportunity.

(15,550 posts)when he's not convicted by the Senate. I'm actually hoping that's true because the things he does will really be over the top and that may keep us all fired up to oust him.
I actually think it's a given that there will be election tampering - no doubt in my mind since we've done nothing to stop it - and that's what worries me. We're going to have to GOTV in massive numbers to oust him.

(1,979 posts)I put on industrial hearing protection gear because I was not in the right frame of mind to watch/hear it. That's how far I have fallen.

(1,713 posts)We are the majority. It's been a tough 3 years but hang in there. We won last time and 2020 will see historic turnout. Trump has awakened a sleeping giant. We will defeat him in 2020- if America cares. She does. We have seen challenges in our short history and we are still here. Keep your chin up. We will do this.

I want you to be right.

(29,697 posts)I couldn't believe how emotional I got at times. I didn't like the fact that it sort of ended with how President Obama "failed" in his presidency. I understand that they meant he failed to bring the country closer together, but it certainly wasn't for lack of trying. The failure was on the part of the Republicans, not him.

"ANOTHER Trump hit piece by the leftwing character assassination squad. "Frontline" is probably historically the WORST of the lib media, which itself has descended into a mere propaganda outlet that would be familiar to kim jong un."

" Most polls show race relations reached a low during the Obama reign. About equal to 1992 after Rodney king. He was so divisive. Watch his mentor rev wright and its easy to understand. Hatred is a horrible thing "

This is what we're up against.

(31,118 posts)Somebody said on that show that Joe Wilson, the Republican asshole representative from South Carolina, would have had to resign from the Congress in the not too distant past, but now the asshole got a free pass on his extremely rude behavior.
I couldnt agree more.
The show made me start thinking maybe it was the fact of us having a black president that chapped all the stupid conservatives. And the Dotard was payback.

(15,550 posts)The level of rudeness has magnified a gazillion times since then.
I didn't just start thinking that the divide was mostly due to racial issues, but this show cemented in my mind having a black president was the first and foremost reason they glommed onto the Dotard. Racists know how to recognize another racist, and that's what they saw in him.
