If McConnell and the Repubs refuse to permit witnesses in the impeachment trial and go on to acquit the Fat Nixon, there is nothing to prevent the House from impeaching him again.

Undoubtedly, more evidence will come forward in the weeks and months ahead. It will come out before the next election and could be devastating for Republicans. Better to take their medicine now and get it over with?

The more evidence that comes forward, the more difficult for Republicans to defend Donald Trump. That is what they have to look forward to.

I may not have necessarily agreed with the timing of the Articles (I would have preferred more investigations but that would not have changed the stonewalling) but I do understand where she is coming from.

In that light, I see this as brilliant politics on her part. Speaker Pelosi knows the lay of the land and knew full well that waiting on either passing the Articles or delivering them to the Senate would only make for talking points against Dems going into the election. That talking point is now gone. I also think she knew full well that there was more evidence that was being investigated and needed cooraboration/verification. The evidence that's been coming out over the last week I think is the fruit being born from those trees.

Impeachment has always will always be a political issue. She's boxed the Republicans in, especially Senate Republicans, to where no matter what they do, they'll get blowback from their constituents. No witnesses, why not? Are you afraid of the truth? Witnesses, the truth comes out and a vote not to remove from office would only reek of partisanship over country.

Every Republican is going to have to defend whatever decision they make.
