This Is Really Not Good - Not Sure How To Put It Here My Friends

After watching Rachel's interview with Parnas I thought of something reeeeeal bad.

These guys, and girls, who I call the Trump Gang all worked together to shake down Ukraine, obstruct justice, deny subpoenas, lie, and commit a whole host of crimes. They appear to be guilty as hell. In America it is rare that rich powerful white earth movers ever pay for their crimes, but millions of us want exactly that. Myself, and probably everyone reading this think these thugs, and mobsters need to be prosecuted. When we get a real attorney general, they may all be rolled up.

Now the problem.

They all know what may be coming down. These powerful criminals running our country have an insane amount of power, nukes, and millions of brainwashed cult followers that would follow them over any cliff, or carry out any command, and believe any lie.

I fear for my country, and what could happen. It just hit me when I thought of having a real attorney general replace Barr after the election, and actually start enforcing laws and stuff.

I have a bad feeling.

I hope I am wrong.

America is at a crossroads.

and when voters show up, their votes are not counted. With all that happened in 2016, no one has ever audited the vote. No one knows if votes were counted accurately, because no one checked. Maybe we just need more white voters whose votes might count.

Think of it that way. As soon as this orange asshat falls silent rotting behind bars, there won't be much left of Cult45. The rest of his Kool-Aid drinking followers are about near dead up there in age, so I don't see what anyone has to worry about.

If you need to fear, you should consider that an idiot who inherited his daddy's fortune, lost most of it, sleeps with prostitutes, is an adulterer, and has his figure on the world's deadliest nuclear weapons. I think I'll take a mob of angry Cult45's pissing themselves over that.

Additionally, election day should be a federal holiday, with mandatory time and a half if you're required to work.
Polls should open at 7am, and stay open for 24 hours.

And not that we're gonna, but if every single adult were assessed an additional 10 dollars tax annually toward federally funded elections (no more donations above 1000$ PERIOD), that also would do a lot to incentivize people to go vote...you're paying for the campaigns, after all!

But WHY is turnout low? I mean, if we want higher turnout, it would help to know what keeps it low so we know what to work on. Maybe we should talk to non-voters and ask them.

https://theconversation.com/i-asked-people-why-they-dont-vote-and-this-is-what-they-told-me-129421

Australia has much higher turnout because they do some things differently. But Australia also has Scott Morrison as PM., so maybe their system doesn't work much better than ours.

Real Time, Speaker Pelosi was the interview guest, and she said that the institutions of this country can survive one term of this fucker but not another.

I have to laud all of our elected persons going out and making their points regularly

And As much flak as MSNBC gets, they seem to be doing America a great service by devoting most of their prime air time to educating the public, especially with their Sunday special features they have been producing for months now.

If we can't have civics ed in schools, at least this network has been putting effort into taking up some of the job of teaching the electorate about the responsibilities of citizenship.

Just saying, I think some of the folks on our teevees are trying to help us get the whole picture along with civics ed.

Some of us here at DU have been talking about this for year(s)..........

When a narcissistic sociopath is about to come to the end, they have a propensity to go to an “I’ll show you” to who they believe brought them down........Many of Trump’s minions are of the same cloth, but at least they do not have access to the “football”. But the fact that Trump does, is frightening. Be afraid, be very afraid.

I have said many many times on this site:

It is getting uglier by the day, think of how scary this whole crowd will get, day by day, over the next few months. Coming to a crescendo on Nov 3rd and the next morning.

It makes no difference if they win or lose, we are going to see an ugliness never before seen in the History of our nation.........think about it people. If you were worried about Y2K, it would have been much the same as the outcome of this upcoming nightmare. All possibilities are extremely grave given what they have demonstrated, especially these past three years........

It will not matter if they win or lose, think about it........

We hit the crossroads when one of our major political parties made Donald Fucking Trump POTUS.

We ran the redlight when he got elected and are WELL down the road at this point.

Going by recent history we might managed to stop the car for a bit, but Rs will get to drive again and drive us further down it.

Hard to see any way this country gets its head out of its ass and turns the car around to try work its way back at this point because 1) It will require giving a shit 2) It will be hard fucking work.

His base, his followers, are even more frightening. (Apparently normal people you meet and feel compatible with until politics come up).. The minute I discover they're Trumpers, I shut up. The subject is closed and there is no use arguing in the usual way.. You could reasonably argue all the time with a member of the opposite political party in normal circumstances. I' m a senior citizen who was a "Kennedy Girl" as a teenager and have long been involved in politics on a local level. The Trump fanatics are scary/crazy; yet make no sense unless you accept they're racist/bigot "deplorables" They're in complete denial about that,. I spent years despising conservative Bill Crystal, I currently love the man.

Albeit in a literal sense, will they be watching their crops die. We're all observing a major pedestal of RW nutjobbery coming unwound:

The longer the MAGA zombies carry on this charade of denial, the worse the environmental payback will become.
Just how much of this will reflect back on this fact-free period of history?
McTurtle will long be rotting in a grave, and the Donald will be receiving his nasogastric tube feedings.
Yet the truly menacing meaning of "Make America Grunt Again" will be revealed for the selfishness, greed and incompetent leadership and dereliction of planetary stewardship it represents. How any Trumper can think about their progeny and believe they are doing them any good is doubly bewildering. Yet thinking is obviously not their strong suit as the sly Fox tells them to "whatabout" the dems.
4 more years of Trump will ensure that as an apocalyptic prophecy. Heaven forbid.

The ones to worry about are the ones with money that you never heard of and I don't think they'll be inclined to start a new actual civil war.

The idiots all over the internet running their mouths won't do anything else. Oh sure the odd one will get drunk and shoot at a car with an equal rights sicker on it, or some piss ass kid will go to DC on a field trip and show off for his friends, but mostly these folks aren't activists. They are are followers. No gumption, no ideas of their own. And if the suits did ask them to go to war they'll to AWOL as soon as the cell service dies. As it is, their protests attract more portolets than people.

Edit to add I'm talking longer term here than the latest bottom of the barrel Republican admin.
