McCain was nothing but negative ads the final few months of the campaign and they barely moved the needle in his favor ... in fact, he lost support.

Romney's scorched earth policy is going to backfire.

They had an hilarious one wherein Mario Cuomo was a "murderer." It said it in that fear-voiceover, with the dark images: "Mario Cuomo. He's a murderer." We used to laugh and say it all the time.
