Here's an illustration of the Senate Sergeant at Arms delivering their Impeachment Summons to President Johnson, the first President to be impeached:

(42,714 posts)I would be shocked if the articles were served personally on Clinton. The Senate has considerable leeway in how it give notice to the subject of an impeachment proceeding, allowing service:
"either by the delivery of an attested copy thereof
to the person impeached, or if that can not conveniently
be done, by leaving such copy at the last known place of
abode of such person, or at his usual place of business in
some conspicuous place therein; or if such service shall be,
in the judgment of the Senate, impracticable, notice to the
person impeached to appear shall be given in such other
manner, by publication or otherwise, as shall be deemed
just; and if the writ aforesaid shall fail of service in the
manner aforesaid, the proceedings shall not thereby abate,
but further service may be made in such manner as the
Senate shall direct."

(146,317 posts)I've long been a reader of 19th century books on the science and technology of that time. All full of finely-done illustrations. A good friend of mine, years ago, was a scientific illustrator. Her attention to detail was remarkable, and she could illustrate something far better than any photograph could. That was especially true of microscopic things. I helped her at one point by finding a high-end stereoscopic microscope at a reasonable price for her. My reward was an 8" x 10" ink drawing of a paramecium, drawn while using the instrument. It's hanging in my bathroom.
