They’ll say that Trump did some stuff that showed poor judgment, but that’s not an impeachable offense. Since we have a party and legal system that serves only Donald Trump, we will have to rely on journalists to dig up the evidence to finally convince people that Trump is s corrupt as they come and he needs to be forced to quit, just as Nixon finally did.

Wed Jan 15, 2020, 11:10 PM
Jan 2020

I've come across a few old ones, where the earth above has collapsed.

They have an entrance tunnel of maybe a metre or so long, then at an angle to the tunnel, the actual living space which is about a metre square for a grown wombat. Wombats are quite big; image something almost labrador-sized but with short legs.

A wombat hole would be a great shelter, I doubt if the wombat actually invites other critters in, but sheer terror would likely help them get along for the crisis.

Wombats are generally bulky and slow but I've seen them run like the wind when scared. They are peaceable vegetarians whose only defense mechanism is to use their bulk to crush interlopers against the roof of their burrows.

So the House didn't know what Parnas woud say, or if he would even talk, or even if he had anything to say. She indicated the decision was made very recently by Mr. Parnas for his own safety, that the information is better in public.

A lot of the interview needs to be corroborated with other witnesses. He was very certain about the relationships involved and heard parts of conversations on speakerphones, but some is not direct first hand evidence.

Thu Jan 16, 2020, 01:11 AM

nothing will matter after that. Trump will fix the election or cancel it, depending on what works best for him. After acquittal, he'll know that he can't be removed for any crime he commits, no matter how many times he's impeached. It also means he can permanently withhold witnesses and documents from Congress, he can ignore Court Orders, he can make up his own laws, and he can completely ignore the Legislative and Judicial Branches. He will be able to exact revenge on anyone he wishes with no repercussions. He can murder and steal. No consequences. He is the head of the Church of Trump, he is infallible, and he will destroy anyone who challenges him.

The coming scheduled election might or might not come to pass. Do not expect it. The best opportunity to stop the anarchy is to extend the trial for as long as possible and present as much evidence as possible, until the public is decidedly certain that he's got to go, and THEY threaten the GOP to vote for removal or face massive civil unrest. But... sorry, waiting for the next election, IMO, will be one wait too late.

the crimes are too glaring, the evidence overwhelming. Yale historian Timothy Snyder was one of the few people to call Mr. Trump out for what he was in 2016/7. Mr. Snyder's two books On Tyranny and The Road to Unfreedom are well worth reading.

and belief Mr. Hyde was basically joking in texts about the ambassador (shall we call it international fantasy swatting?), someone in Washington in presumably the State Department, got wind of it and tipped off the ambassador which led to her abrupt departure. Is that basically the story thus far?

So it just seems there is more to this than texts bandied about over the course of a week. Something was afoot, and Pompeo/Trump are all trying to cover something up.

He sounds like a stool pigeon ratting on a crime boss to avoid a severe penalty. Which he is.

Hope he finds a new barber in prison.
