She didn't mention Epstein specifically but said what she gleaned from talking to Parnas before and during the interview is that the man feels the more of this material is out in the public sphere, the less chance that he and his documentation would suddenly be . . . hummm, disappeared. Or maybe the victim of one of those Russian accidents where people curiously fly out of ten-story windows. And that security consideration probably extends to the man's family. He has four kids and I think I read there's another on the way. I'm sure he's hoping he'll get some sort of consideration with the charges that will be leveled against him but I would think that personal security is a prime motivator.

I seriously think the video that emerged yesterday of him mocking Trump in a “private” moment with Assad was a the prearranged signal to Lev to dump his data and cause chaos here. What better time for Putin to declare himself president of Russia for life? He just did a massive power grab and destabilized us simultaneously.

Lev sure isn’t spilling out of the goodness of his heart.

She is a heroine back in Russia now, even after she gave damaging "testimony" here. Parnas has been funded from Russia for years, that doesn't happen for an average immigree. I am leaning toward Parnas knows what he is doing and so does Putin. What greater prize can Putin gain than no American believing in our system of electing office holders, if he gets that, he effectively destroys our democracy that has taken 244 years and a lot of blood to gain and build upon.

That guy has been funded from Russia for years and has wiggled his way deep into the Republican Party. Putin likely saw years ago that it was easier to corrupt republicans as a whole than it was to corrupt democrats as a whole, so people like Parnas and Buttina, and others that we don't know yet, were sent into the USA to compromise one of the two major political parties.

Thu Jan 16, 2020, 01:51 PM
Jan 2020

We are arguably one of the most significant countries to exist on the face of the earth, but we are also prone to go to grotesque excesses.

From our beginning, religion has been at the core of our extremes, the Salem Witch trials, the Trail of Tears, Slavery, Prohibition, segregation, the 50s red scare, failure to insure full rights for POC and females. Religion got us to where we are. One political party decided that it could profit on religious divisions and it's key offshoot, denial of rights to select people. Then along came a soulless demogogue who saw the success that one political party had with using religion as a wedge and he decided to put that on steroids. So we are where we are.

My nation is in a pit of darkness right now and people are still fighting each other, even those that claim to have shared values (mostly on the center and the left). But within the darkness lays hope, people are abandoning organized religion -choosing to rely on their inate spirituality instead - which is a wiser course to take, people on the left and center -most of them at least are awakening to the fact that they need eachother to pull the country out of the darkness.

We will wallow in the misery for a little longer, but we will come out of it stronger as a result of that, we always have. The great asset that we have this time is the socalled "moral" religious people have fully shown their hand in support of an immoral demogogue, so any attempt by them to take the moral high ground in debates isn't going to work any longer. We will be ok, we just need resolve by people in the center and left to set our small differences aside and fight a common enemy.

We may be a lot stronger than we feel right now. The difference may be that now we see more of the truth about corruption in our country. Ironically it’s the excesses of the corrupt who have brought it to our attention. In any case we’ll soon see if we survive this as a Democracy or as a Dictatorship.
