"I never would have supported trump if only I had known"

my recurring thought is this.

If only I had known how corrupt trump was.

If only I had known what he was up to all along.

If only I knew what was happening behind the scenes.

These are the pre ordained excuses I see being employed by the MAGATs at some future date, when, post trump presidency, the waterfall of cascading evidence will be SO compelling for even the most dim witted of the MAGATs would have to accept reality.

It's the internal defense mechanism I see the MAGATs resorting to, in order to feebly justify their past support of the big orange idiot; they will be looking for absolutely anything to hang their hat on to excuse their actions.

Maddening, but I look forward to that moment when I plan on mercilessly getting up in their faces:

"SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU MORON, WE TOLD YOU THIS ALL ALONG!!! YOU SHOULD VOLUNTARILY GIVE UP YOUR RIGHT OT VOTE FOR BEING SO FUCKING STUPID!!"

By then, the damage will be done, but it will make me feel better.

My rather bleak glimpse into the future.

"Yes. Yes, you WOULD have supported him even if you'd known these things.

"Because you did know. You know you knew. But that's not the issue. You didn't vote for Trump because you thought he was a good man. You knew he wasn't. You voted for Trump to "own the libs." That's it and that's all. There's a bumper sticker out there: 'Trump 2020: Make Liberals Cry Again.' That's why you voted for him and that's why you supported him - NOT because you wanted a 'good man' to be president but because you wanted to troll liberals. You thought Trump was going to throw Hillary Clinton, who contrary to your crazed beliefs is not corrupt or evil, in prison. Well, guess what? We're going to have to throw Donald Trump in prison.

"There is only one thing you can do to atone for the sin of putting Donald Trump in the White House, and that's to never vote for a Republican again as long as you live."

they'll know it was a conspiracy but they will only have vague guesses about who the power was that pulled it off. The complicater is all those AR-15's, AK-47's, M-4's etc out there.

Older white people angry drunk, with nothing but the trailer-house to lose and well armed.

On the other hand, I don't see much Trump stickers or MAGA caps out here in central Texas anymore, so there is that.

The only ones that are coming even close to honest are those Russian emigres who’ve taken out US citizenship but voted for Trump to help Vladimir Putin make the Russian Federation a world power to be reckoned with.

...everyone who voted for Trump wanted him because he was a straight shooter, told it like it is, etc. That's what everyone wanted.

Me; I can see that, but he's doing things that are seriously going to harm a lot of his own voters and invigorate everyone on the left.

Relative angrily replies; Doesn't matter, they he's doing what has to be done and the left are just lunatics.

Me; And we are refugee's from an empire that had it all, Christianity as its official religion, a tax system that rewarded the wealthy and punished criminals, both religious and political horrendously. And this country could be walking on the same path.

Relative angrily replies; It's not the same!

Me; Sure...whatever you say.

Relative; mumbles angrily.

=====================

Long story short, there were even German Jews who supported Adolph Hitler....and I wont go into other groups who supported him from abroad that include this country.

Our family fled because they saw the writing on the wall. Other relatives mocked them, saying things like "its temporary" or "it will get better" and running to another country means a harder life...and they were right about that. After the Iron Curtain fell, a great uncle of mine went to the village where our family was. Found out many of the relatives he had heard about came to a tragic end...and the family name was wiped out in the village.

In short, you can't convince everyone...and sadly...history rhymes.

Trump lies constantly. He's the opposite of a straight shooter.

What Trump offers - what resonates with some people - is his rage.

And separating truth from fiction was just too daunting a task in the face of persistent gaslighting by Trump, his campaign, and a dedicated army of online bots and trolls. "Trump is being sued in multiple venues for cheating and defrauding people, and he's paid out millions in court judgments. But someone online says that the Clinton Foundation is crooked. There's no support for that assertion, but I believe it's probably true. Rather than get down into the weeds, I'll just go along with the prevailing media narrative that both Trump and Clinton are untrustworthy."

Official Rethug Authoritarian Structure:

Just ask them if they bothered to Google Trump's name and history in 2015/2016........
