MADISON (WKOW) -- The Wisconsin Appeals Court ordered a hold Tuesday on an Ozaukee County judge's ruling that the state's election commission should remove over 200,000 names from the state's voter rolls.

The Associated Press reported the hold and a similar order against fines for state election officials each day they did not remove the names.

The case, originally brought by the conservative Wisconsin Insitute for Law and Liberty, seeks to purge 209,000 registrations from the state's voter rolls.

Monday, the Wisconsin Supreme Court denied a request for the case to bypass appeals and proceed directly to the state's highest judicial body.

Appeals are the next step for the case and the hold will likely remain in place until after the court makes its own ruling.

The Ozaukee county judge made the initial ruling in the case, siding with the conservative plaintiffs. The defendant, the bipartisan Wisconsin Elections Commission, will meet Tuesday and is expected to discuss the legal proceedings.

makes no sense and serves no public purpose IMHO. I know who's pushing it and why but I don't know why (some) courts are ruling that it absolutely needs to happen yesterday (or at all for that matter). Do other countries do this? I mean, I believe that in Canada, you're on the voter rolls from birth and can vote as soon as you turn 18. Unless they've changed anything recently, it doesn't seem like it's causing problems up there.

They know they can't win unless they cheat. I would really like to know what the party make-up those 200,000 + names were. I'm pretty sure I already know, but they are so blatantly corrupt and dishonest it just amazes me they almost got away with it. I feel like we are playing whack-a-mole here. They are lying, cheating and committing corrupt acts all over the place and as much as we try to stay on top of it, we can barely keep up with their treachery.

I stay sane by fantasizing about seeing karma coming around and taking a big, fat bite out of all their fat, greedy, evil asses.

The republicans have a way of doing jujitsu every time their initial tactics are blocked. They keep inventing new methods to skew the elections.

My new fear is this. If voters can’t be purged, will the GOP hack into voter rolls to ADD a bunch of “voters”, covering their tracks to allow vote doubling etc. on the central tabulators?

Sounds crazy? There have been instances of elections where votes counted exceeded the number of registered voters (which should never happen, right?).

And there was also recent analysis showing odd registration patterns including percentage of new registrations. That were over 110 years old.

Not saying that the purge isn’t the bigger problem, but it really is like whack a mole. They cheat, and then they move onto the new tactic.
