Let's stop playing "make believe." The Republican Party has become America's fascist party. The Democrats have become the only possible defense against them.
But then, I was being polite. Everything, every action, every lie is how the Nazi Party came to power in Germany in the early 1930's. Does that mean today's Republican Party are Nazis?
Who the fuck knows? That's a name -- a word -- a description of what evil people did back then and who they were.
But look at today's Republican Party. Look at their deference to their brain dead leader. Look at their willingness to do whatever he wants them to do.
Look at their throwing away each and every human value that exists. Look at their virtual destruction of the Constitution that they have incredibly accomplished.
America, wake the fuck up. At this moment in history, it looks like fascism won WWII. So show me where I'm wrong.
Do you think "foreigners" were the "enemy?" Do you thing some other country was the enemy?
No. Fascism is a way of thought. It's a philosophy that never goes away. It's not a country that believes in it. It's people who believe in it.
So let me cut this short here. American fascism is winning the war of ideology of how human beings are governed. And right now, we are losing this war.
What every intelligent American needs to know is that the Republican Party is Americas fascist party and they are on the verge of victory. Too close.
Get into the fight or America is over.

(7,434 posts)Fascist wannabes? Nope. These people are real, dyed in the wool, fascists. But to attribute to them alone the nation's conversion to fascism is neither fair nor accurate. Fascism, as Mussolini stated, is a marriage between big government and big business. The US had accomplished this marriage decades ago, but maintained the facade of a democratic republic through our social liberalism, a somewhat free press, and the defense of the Bill of Rights. All of that is window dressing. The core functioning of fascism was embedded long ago. I think of the shocking news during the Bush 41 administration when it was exposed that Corporate lobbyists were, in fact, the people who were writing the laws for Congress to consider. Big Business-- Big Government. And everyone let it slide because big corporations were BIG DONORS. That's how it developed, and that's what we have. The writing of bills by corporate lobbyists is now SOP. It's normal. And it's fascism.

(15,060 posts)Are you incredibly naive enough to not seeing what we are becoming.
I'll tell you what. If/When you find yourself in an American concentration camp, send me another reply regarding your opinion.
I hope I'm wrong. I hope to hear from you again before this horrible creature is out out of office.
I hope that my entire concept of today's reality is wrong.
Nonetheless, another year of this monster in office could end up in a universal disaster. So if there's no reply from you a year from now, I'll understand.

(53,871 posts)I also know about ALEC writing repressive bills for REPUGS but if we win the WH and Senate we can stop them in their tracks, assuming we keep the House also.
FDR and LBJ were able to put through many, significant and lasting social programs that are antithetical to fascism when Dems controlled Congress and the WH.
If we only get rid of trump we can still stave them off but won't be able to get our programs through Moscow Mitch.
If trump wins all bets are off as trump/fascism will be ascendant and what's even worse, his puppet master Putin will hold the reins of power over much of the geopolitics of the world.
BTW, melding of the military should also be included with the merging of government and business in your definition of fascism.

(15,060 posts)He supported Roosevelt's programs on social security and so much more. And he warned us about fascism.
And he also understood the fascist aims of the Republican Party. The damn thing is that here we are, about 65 years later, still fighting American fascism being pushed by the Republican Party.
