(62,325 posts)That's part of the reason it took so long for his wife to get any justice and if the next wife had not disappeared, he would have gotten away with it. Too bad he was not stopped after this murder, his next wife would still be alive.
He was so arrogant, a true sociopath.

(21,925 posts)Not to blame the victims here but are they aware of who they are marrying when they say "I do"? And what about the family members of these women, their parents, brothers, and sisters? I know at that point in the wedding ceremony when the padre says "speak now, or forever hold your peace" I'd create a real scene if I was their father or brother. Isn't he now working on his fourth wife and hasn't he been accused of getting her to lie in court?

(8,646 posts)getting themselves to appear caring, loving, normal. They constantly play the victim. They are very good at picking out women who come from abusive backgrounds so that to them a lot of the 'odd' behaviors that would send up a red flag for others are overlooked/explained away because they resemble the dynamic from the woman's own family. Same goes for female psychopaths - they all look for 'easy prey'.
Even expert psychiatrists who specialize in psychopathy admit to getting 'taken' by them once in awhile despite knowing the techniques psychopaths use to draw people in. Psychopaths are magnificently cunning and manipulative. They sniff out your weakness immediately and use it against you as much as possible. Don't ever think, even with caring friends and family, that you are safe from a psychopath. They are everywhere in society - 1-4% of the population. Not all are killers, but most are toxic to be around or involved with.

(44,397 posts)Drew Peterson, 54, is engaged again, his lawyer and publicist confirmed Wednesday to FOXNews.com.
Though Peterson is still married to his fourth wife, Stacy, who was 23 when she disappeared last year, he has found a new 23-year-old fiancée, he told "Drew Peterson Exposed" author Derek Armstrong Tuesday.
"The kids have met her," said Armstrong. "They like her and they know about this engagement."
Peterson has two young children, Anthony, 6, and Lacy, 4, with Stacy Peterson. The missing mom's family contends she is dead.
"Oh my God, Im speechless," Pam Bosco, a spokeswoman for Stacy Peterson's family told FOXNews.com when informed of Drew Peterson's engagement. "History repeats itself, so I imagine that thats the same situation he had before: Hed be involved with somebody when he was getting rid of the one before."

(17,111 posts)they are very smart, charismatic many times, manipulative, unfeeling, and thoroughly amoral. People who run into the charismatic ones cannot see around or through them until it's too late if they ever do. It is much easier for those on the outside to see what they are.
I just thnk my lucky stars I never got near one that I know of. At least I wasn't caught up in any games on someone else.
Another scary group are stalkers. If they are truly intent on getting you, I have come to believe that setting up a situation that would be justifiable homicide would be the only way to live in any peace. By that I mean letting them come after you and be ready to take them out. You can scream at me ll you want, a stalker is one of the scariest people on earth. As long as they are alive, there is never peace. The law doesn't know how to handle them.
