I find it odd that we have sites with "conservative" forums that are obsessed with us

I followed a discussion between a couple old timers who had spotted some trolls. They had a few tricks and understood things that I didn’t but one thing I’ve seen mentioned pretty often is they are new, with few posts. Anyway, I’ve learned to try to ignore some. I suppose some are legitimate long time members whose opinions are a lot different from mine which is fine, but no need to be nasty.

...with DU and DUers by name. It was both creepy and pathetic. There are, or were, a few others claiming to be conservative, and all shared the characteristics of envy, spite, and not being very good as sites.

The Admins made a point of DU not bringing that muck here more than occasionally, and definitely not linking to them, because flame-wars are simply not productive for a site that wants to work toward political and social change (that would be us). I endorse that, by the way. Go check them out, but wipe your feet on the doormat before coming home.

They are exactly what the GOP has been working for...by taking away quality education and basic social programs, we are left with many in the population who don't even have the ability to think critically and realize that in a democracy, they do have the power to help themselves out of their situation.

Imagine being raised in such a way that only one side of the issues were presented - if any discussion occurred at all. Imagine having your only hope being a hateful guy who encourages division, spews distain towards women (and obviously other groups, but women are likely the only ones they might care about), and lies so often that even they must realize it. How dismal must life be for these people.
