BULLSHIT.
The U.S. killed Soleimani in a drone strike last week ordered by President Trump that has further inflamed U.S.-Iran tensions.
"There is no doubt that there were a series of imminent attacks being plotted by Qassem Soleimani," Pompeo told the Fox News host. "We don't know precisely when and we don't know precisely where, but it was real."
Iran promised a proportional retaliation after the strike killing Soleimani, and on Tuesday it launched a missile strike on two Iraqi bases that house U.S. troops. No American casualties were sustained.

(135,873 posts)Taking Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani "off the battlefield" has been a goal for the top US diplomat for a decade, several sources told CNN.
Targeting Iran's second most powerful official -- the leader of the Revolutionary Guard Corps' Quds Force, the politically and economically powerful military group with regional clout -- was Pompeo's idea, according to a source from his inner circle. That source said the secretary brought the suggestion to Trump. Pompeo "was the one who made the case to take out Soleimani, it was him absolutely," this source said.
According to multiple sources close to Pompeo, the secretary of state has believed throughout his career that Iran is at the root of all the Middle East's problems and has focused on Soleimani, Iran's "shadow commander," as the mastermind behind the country's state sponsored terrorism throughout the region.

(20,888 posts)Our generals conduct war games all the time. Planning attacks, counter attacks, defenses ... that's sort of the job of a general. It's like saying the guy at the car wash was planning to wash cars. We don't know which car, but the threat of car washing was real.

(2,657 posts)a Presidential Daily Briefing entitled "Bin Laden determined to attack inside the U.S.,".
In that case, they knew that Bin Laden wanted to strike America, but they did not know where and they did not know when.
Since the public found out about that memo, Republicans have treated it like it was nothing because it was not necessarily an imminent threat. And why did they put it in the "not an imminent threat" category? Well, because they did not know of any specific details of a specific attack, such as when and where the attack would be, they considered it not an imminent threat.
Now, Pompeo is arguing that something was an imminent threat when they had no idea where or when the attack would come. So, which is it, Republicans? If the U.S. knows that a bad guy wants to attack the U.S., but does not know where or when he plans to attack, is that an imminent threat or not? Does it require action or not? How about you Republicans make up your damn minds?
