Fits with the "backbone" idea, as well as what I think the Republicans DO do; they mistake kindness for weakness. It not only tells you what they thnk of us, but what they are willing to do TO us.

I don't think of this is vicious terms at all; merely strong, determonred ones. After all, we had no problem calling Teddy Kennedy the Lion of the Senate.
