(2,275 posts)I worry that Biden doesn't have a full grasp of contemporary issues and would do too little too late. The majority of candidates, representing a majority of Democrats, have strong environment/infrastructure plans mapped out. I hope Biden is paying attention.

(9,668 posts)Apparently the Australian border on the overlay is scaled correctly to the US model. The fire symbols are not, which makes the burnt areas appear larger than they would be if scaled properly.
Still, at 15m+ burned acres it is a huge loss to that ecosystem and no matter how the fires started, a terrible example of what is likely in store for the rest of the world due to unaddressed climate change.

(17,931 posts)Imagine out of control fires, here and there, across the entire US from the Carolinas to southern CA. I certainly can't wrap my head around it.

(14,155 posts)...... said there was no such thing as global warming due to burning too much hydro-carbon/petrol.
These fires do not look too normal here.

(6,189 posts)........ why not acquire aircraft (fixed wing and helos) that can access the saltwater and make almost continuous water drops.
Maybe stupid question..... and I don't know anything about fire fighting. I just had to ask.

(4,399 posts)and smoke from the fires in Australia is shutting down air traffic in some cities. People with asthma have been told to stay inside as much as possible because of the impact on air quality.
For anyone who lives in a "safe" area and thinks what happens in Equatorial countries won't affect them as long as we "build that wall".
