David Gura of "Up" announced today that his weekend morning slot was going to Ali Veshi while Gura goes to Sat afternoon.
This article says MSNBC heads want to move Chuck Todd to 9 a.m. to give Nicolle Wallace a 2-hour block.
The 9 a.m. slot is opening because Stephanie Ruhle is becoming an NBC biz reporter.

Wonder if it also has to do with Toad's recent admission that he was naive to the lies of repug guests.
Imagine that, a veteran newsperson, on-air for years, unaware that repugs lie.
I don't buy it. He's most likely a repug himself and was charged by the suits to let the repugs spew and go unchallenged.
As ratings continued to slip though, he had to go.

(14,961 posts)most, they would really rile him up. lol..and as much as I hate to admit it now, he had more of a likeability factor than SHS. I felt a little bad for him, when Trump wouldn't let him meet the Pope. I guess I could see the humanity in him.

(47,517 posts)family and that he was the liberal in the bunch. Maybe he is liberal relative to his family's politics.
I don't know how liberal he really is, but I do know he isn't very good at his job. Before he got his own show, he used to be a political analyst, sort of like Steve Kornacki, statistics oriented. In that position, he was tolerable, but he does not have what it takes to carry an hour long show. Plus his choice of guests is often appalling. He manages to find the most smug, condescending conservatives on the planet. Almost as bad is when he tries to be clever or funny. I don't know who he thinks he is appealing to, but clearly it is no one who watches MSNBC.
The whole Meet the Press Daily was a bad idea from the get-go. It is a certain format that works on Sundays, if you like to watch the Sunday shows (I really don't), but Monday through Friday is often a different audience.

(21,639 posts)From the day they fired Ed Schultz (who was a great progressive, before he let his resentment over his firing get the best of him), it seemed clear that MSNBC was feeling pressure to let Repugs have an 'hour of power' at the network.
And Chuck - who replaced the Ed Show time slot - fit the bill perfectly, since, as you pointed out, his policy was to let them have the last word always.

(19,962 posts)But a TV insider said, Chuck doesnt want to move to 9 a.m. Hed rather leave MSNBC completely and focus on Meet the Press on Sunday, and continue to provide news and political analysis across all NBC News platforms including digital. He sees his show as news, not opinion. Another insider mused it was madness for NBC to upset the face of its political coverage ahead of 2020. They need Chuck on air every day.
A third MSNBC source conceded that news chiefs had asked Todd to move Daily because the show doesnt fit in the 5 p.m. slot. But the insider insisted, Theres no way MSNBC wants to lose MTP Daily and Chuck. Hes NBCs biggest political star. The move comes as Todd faces backlash for highlighting a letter to the editor of a small newspaper that stated voters who believe in fairy tales and Noahs Ark were more likely to vote for Donald Trump.
Lol ! It may have been Todd Chuck and Toad Todd....

(15,286 posts)She comes prepared and not only asks great questions, but great follow up questions. Her panel also has conversations rather than just rapid fire opinions and she'll push back when she disagrees with what was said or to get a more detailed response. Two hours would give her a chance to really get in depth on topics. She has a Larry King-like way of relaxing people and getting them to open up.
As for MTP Daily, I change to Wolf Blitzer on CNN or local news at 5PM.

(13,058 posts)So far taking a more left leaning stance makes sense for their business model, but if it ever becomes apparent that moving to the right will help their bottom line then that's what they will do as well. I don't trust any corporate media outlet whether it be MSNBC or Fox News.

I used to try to catch Velshi and Rhule at the 10:00 am (Eastern) when I could. And then they moved them to the 1:00 PM and they gave the morning slot to someone - don't recall his name - who, when interviewed Bill Clinton and James Patterson about the mystery they coauthored decided, instead, to ask him about Lweisnki.
