"Look, I'm rich, you don't need to see my tax returns. Just take my word for it, OK?"

"Look, I'm smarter than everyone else, you don't need to see my college records. Just take my word for it, OK?"

"Look, I'm not doing anything shady with Deutsche Bank, you don't need to see any of those records. Just take my word for it, OK?"

"Look, I'm tough on Russia, you don't need to see records of my dealings with Putin. Just take my word for it, OK?"

"Look, anything I do towards Iran will be lawful. Just take my word for it, OK?"

It's not meant as a point of argument. It's just an order. We are being ordered to believe, whatever our lying eyes and ears and independent minds (those that have them) tell us. His base follows the order loyally.
