With Donald Trump, the takeover is complete (of the party, but not of the county - yet)
Dwight D. Eisenhower once said:
Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance and eliminate labor laws and farm programs you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group of course that believes you can do these things. Among them are a few other Texas oil millionaires and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible, and they are stupid.
Maybe he was right once upon a time, but he sure did not see the vile sickness in the soul of the few Texas oil millionaires and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas that would spread like a virus in the republican party and risk the entire fundamentals of who America is. The worst of it is that they have managed to convince swathes of very poor people that social security, unemployment insurance and eliminate labor laws and farm programs are SOCIALISM, the horror!!!!!, and abolishing them is a really really good plan - well for everyone that is not exactly like them.
They hijacked compassion and community spirit to an extent that great grandparents would not be able to comprehend, BUT Trump and HIS republican party is taking it to the next level. The takeover of the party is complete, at this point it is not about abolishing any kind of welfare programme, it is now about the takeover of the country with the aim of demolishing democracy itself. As J.M. Berger said: Give a man fake news, and hell fool you for a day. Teach a man to fake news, and hell lie to you for life. Thanks Russia. Heh.
The biggest irony of all, is when the democratic offer comes along with its safety nets and security for the most vulnerable, at this point, they are literally portrayed as enemies of the state, and many of the poor saps who need their help the most, fall for this bollocks
voting as an act of self-harm.
