everything is Obama's fault and trump is Saving The World.
Everything he says is so obviously pre scripted and not answering any specific questions as usual, just acting as a trump campaign commercial

(7,432 posts)Pompeo is an abject failure. He's the head of DIPLOMACY in the government. He abandoned all efforts of diplomacy for nothing. Nothing except death and destruction. Diplomacy is the backstop against war. Diplomacy keeps the malcontent at bay by method of negotiation. Trump pushed diplomacy aside for murder. Trump pushed Pompeo's duties aside to kill. And Pompeo? He cheerleads for Trump. There is no longer a State Department. There is no longer a Department of Justice. The Administrative State is being completely dismantled in favor of Trump's "holy word."
The nation will not recover from Trump's destructive, sadistic nature. Not before millions are dead.

(81,526 posts)Iranian commander Soleimani had been in Pompeo's sights for years

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Long before U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo went on television and Twitter on Friday to make the case for the U.S. decision to kill top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, he had the powerful military commander squarely in his sights.
Back in 2015, when Pompeo was a congressman for Kansas advocating regime charge in Iran while the Obama administration pursued engagement, he accused Soleimani, considered the second most powerful person in Iran, of having the blood of hundreds of American service members on his hands, a refrain he repeated on Friday after the U.S. air strike in Baghdad.
In July 2017, by which time he had become director of President Donald Trumps Central Intelligence Agency, Pompeos stance on regime change may have been less overt, but when asked at the Aspen Security Forum whether regime change in Iran was a realistic or viable option, he replied:
The folks who are causing the mischief - Qassem Soleimani and his gang - werent elected. Those are the folks that we are deadly focused on making sure dont continue to maintain capacity and power.

(343 posts)Since Trump lies about everything, and his sycophants back him up, how can anybody believe anything Pompeo says? It looks like Trump just impulsively decided on an attack, probably to throw everyone off track on impeachment. He has no plan, other than saving his well fattened rear.
