http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001094211/article/patriots-expected-to-be-disciplined-for-taping-bengals

On December 8, the Patriots' video crew set up in the Browns' press box and filmed the Bengals' sideline. That wouldn't have been so bad except that the Patriots played the Bengals the week after that. If they would have waited until the next week, or done it early in the season, no one would have cared.

Exactly why you would need to try to gain an unfair advantage over the Bengals, who have "a new football team" as their greatest need for next season, is a mystery to me...but the Pats did it anyway.

Trump can't help but tell lies. He lies something like 15-20 times a day.

The Patriots are cheaters. They have great players and a strong coaching staff. But they can't help themselves! Why would they need to cheat against the Bengals?! (I've heard the Patriots' excuses and I call bullshit. Their track record does not give them the benefit of the doubt.)

The NY Times today speculates that this might be the end of the Brady/Belichick era. That would be good for New England and football in general.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/04/sports/football/patriots-titans-upset-brady.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage

Go ahead, Pats fans. Flame away. Deep down, you know I'm right. Even my brother-in-law-- a life-long Pats fan from Massachusetts-- scratches his head about Belichick's cheating. And Brady, the Republican friend of Trump, can pound sand. Enjoy the off-season, boys.

is knowing that if my school's football team suited up an ineligible player, even if that player played not one single down, would have to forfeit every single game of their season. In my district , we had a school ask the state if it would be OK for their JV to play a game on the varsity's behalf since due to a hurricane they had had 3 games in one week. They were told it was OK. Then the state changed its mind so they had to forfeit the game costing them a 2nd place playoff slot and making them take a 3rd place slot instead. Yet the Patriots can continually cheat and have little to know consequences. Just how do we tell high school atheletes that rules matter?

this was the first season of his 3 here that he made it all the way through the 16 regular season games uninjured and not out for the season only partway through... and then game 17 of a playoff and....

Eagles were the walking wounded the latter part of the season and I think we'll really miss Darren Sproles who is retiring (but our practice/backup squad really really has some talent that I hope will be able to see more time next year).

I will like them so much more when Brady is gone. The Pats have N'Keal Harry who went to Arizona State so of course I will root for him.

I don't like Brady for a variety of reasons. Tuck rule, deflategate, left his SO while pregnant for Giselle, he complains visibly sometimes with others when things aren't going his way but if a receiver does that he's a "diva". There are so many more reasons. Trump supporter on top of it all.

Jan 2020

The 2020 draft is stacked with good tight ends. My guess? Brady isn't retiring or leaving, he gets a max two year deal and the Patriots shed some players that underperformed this season, and they draft a top tightend, likely in the first or second round. My guess is they try to move up in the first round and draft Jared Pinckney out of Vanderbilt, he is an ankle breaking route runner and a strong blocker and at 6-5, about the size of Gronkowski.

My guess is Brady gets a maximum salary 2 year deal from the Patriots, and the Patriots un-characteristically move up in the draft to take one of the 2020 draft class top tight ends. Such moves not only help the team dominate over the next two years, but transitions them to dominate once Brady does retire. My guess is that if they get a young tightend that has 50-60% of the capability that Gronkowski had, Brady plays to 45-46 years old to shoot for 9-10 Super Bowl rings.

So I follow them as much as I do the Dolphins. The Patriot's issue this year was they didn't have a down field threat outside of Edelman, and teams double-teamed him and dared one of the other pass catchers to hurt them. Gronkowski gave Edelman room to work, so my guess is the Patriots go for a dangerous pass catching tight end out of college, this year is rich with such tight ends, but only 2-3 of them also can run block, my guess is the Patriots draft one of that 2-3.

Also, my friends there say that the offensive line was pretty beaten up this year, the team lost it's starting center for the season and maybe forever (blood clots, I think) and the critical left tackle was out for most of the season with injuries, they also lost their starting right tackle near the end of the season, and both their starting and backup fullback. Without the threat of effective running, passing in the NFL become much more difficult.
