I remember how mad I was when I wrote a paper in college and came to the conclusion that the worst way to insult males in our culture was by feminizing them.

Words that men took as insults only because they equated men with women!

Eg. sissy, mama's boy, effeminate, et al.

Initially, I didn't think implying she was a "man" was an insult but rather an attempt to kick her out of the female gender altogether. But yes, I see how that is insulting to the transgendered community.

So I am just going to call her an ignoramus and hope that doesn't offend anyone!

A "moron" is a derogatory term for a developmentally challenged person. A "moran", on the other hand, is a politically idiotic, hypocritical asshole lacking a moral compass and spell check. That's pretty much Coulter in a nutjobshell. Then, of course, there's a "maroon", who is Elmer Fudd as best as I can tell.

appearance. That is, because of one's weight, perceived beauty (or otherwise), or any other physical property.
If one must, base it on the ideas that come forth from that person, or the hate they project, things that a person has control over.

Now my own opinion is that one's who have to call names lower themselves a tad bit.
I've been guilty of it, but I've tried, in my older age, to focus on the logical, less emotional aspects of argument and discussion.

REASON FOR ALERT:

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate. (See Community Standards.)

ALERTER'S COMMENTS:

Sexual/gender bigotry, based on the insult that Coulter is transgender and that that is indeed an insult. Please hide this as an example to those who would continue anti-transgender bigotry. This hurts real people here, people. Stop it, please.

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Thu Sep 6, 2012, 09:35 AM, and the Jury voted 3-3 to LEAVE IT.

And it was left.

Juror #1 voted to HIDE IT and said: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT and said: STOP with the transphobia. It was offensive when I read one this morning, they were kicked when I was a mod on DU2, and they are offensive as hell still. Stop it.
Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT and said: What the hell?

over having a brand new A-HOLE ripped to me by the "censors" here. I was STUNNED at how nasty and vicious the replies were!

AND, it was all over a post about this FUCK'N CREEP, Coulter!

Can I say that "censors"?

It was EXACTLY the same blather regarding offending the Transgender portion of DU.

Well, I say, as your average every day homo-sexual (will I be censored for calling MYSELF that?), that CREEP COULTER
would, given the power and authority of her perverted ilk, they would render the entire LGBT community
off to jail.

There was NO attacking the LGBT community here or in general...but the "censors" don't like calling the CREEP any names...I will
stand by my feeling that you MISS the point. The comments are about the CREEP not the LGBT folks.

...like the speech said, Get a BackBONE folks!

p.s....and if I get a jury vote on such...I will vote to leave it alone.

If someone called a person a faggot, you would be okay with it, because it is funny? It's not funny. It makes being transgender a slur. I'm a lesbian, so perhaps I have a bit more insight on such things in the LGBT community, but it isn't funny when people are slandered as though their sexuality causes it, when they should be slandered for their hostile approach to life.

why do you believe calling, in this case coulter, mAnn, is an insult to her?
because a woman that looks like a man is derogatory?

it, at the very least, shows that the name caller believes it is derogatory (I know the argument that, no it is derogatory to the recipient...give me a break).
and that is insulting to LGBT.
