My mother's family would say otherwise, but they were murdered in the Holocaust, almost certainly by their Christian Lithuanian neighbors. Even German officers who were in Lithuania at the time were horrified by what the Lithuanians, liberated from the slender legal restraints that had existed before the German invasion, were doing to the local Jews.
