Nice! FactCheck.org: Bill Clinton’s stem-winding nomination speech was a fact-checker’s nightmare:

lots of effort required to run down his many statistics and factual claims, producing little for us to write about.

Republicans will find plenty of Clinton’s scorching opinions objectionable.
But with few exceptions, we found his stats checked out.

Clinton was substantially correct when he said oil imports were at “a near 20-year low.” He referred to a recent prediction that U.S. dependence on imported oil would fall this year to 42 percent, which Bloomberg News reported would be “the lowest level in two decades.”

And plenty of other Clinton statistics checked out as accurate. For example, he said that since 1961, when John F. Kennedy took office, 42 million private-sector jobs had been added while Democrats held the White House, compared with 24 million while Republicans were in office. And that’s exactly what Bloomberg News reported in a May 8 story.

He also accused Republicans of blocking 1 million potential new jobs, but that checked out, too...

That people considering voting for Romney/Ryan will probably not ever see the full speech. And if there is the slightest inconsistency found, their beloved Fox News will glom onto that and they will then use that as an excuse to say....."See, the Dems do it, too." Never mind that the majority of what he said has come out accurate, even after they combed through it hoping to find something to write about.

There is no one so blind as those who will not see. Truth hurts and they simply cannot admit to themselves that they have been duped by the GOP. They don't want to acknowledge that Ryan has lied repeatedly and sadly, they fell for it. For many of them, it comes from hatred of Obama (or racism) and they want something, anything to justify saying it's his policies. That's what my daughter-in-law says. It's his policies. But I have never heard her name one. She just goes by what she "hears" from someone like Ryan. She will never bother to find out that she was duped. She is still posting RAH RAH stuff for that liar on FB. Gak.....

I'm glad Clinton was Fact Checked and came out clean. I know SOME of the people who need to know this will hear that and maybe reconsider their vote. It just makes me sad that others will go out of their way to not get any information that might conflict with their point of view. As much as I hated it, I watched the GOP convention.....a LOT of it, too. But it was simply so I could know what I was up against. Know THINE ENEMY. So I can really say I know what both sides are offering.

and was truthful. I hope that isn't lost on people. Bill Clinton was found to be a 'fact checker's nightmare' because what he said was true. And the meat of his speech was about what President Obama has accomplished, what the condition of the economy was that he inherited, and what the Republicans did that caused it.

Truly hope that isn't lost in the media and on forums like this. For some reason when the President says it, the media spins it like he's lying, but when President Clinton says it, they actually fact check it and see it's the truth.

Despite the mild criticisms, I think they still missed the point in their biggest complaint.

They indicated that Obamacare could not take credit for the slowdown of medical inflation. I take exception to that.

Consider that one of the provisions of the ACA that has already taken affect was to insure that 80-85% of premiums are spent on care.

That clause resulted in over a billion dollars in refunds this past year. While that is a significant number, it represents a much more important point. The insurance companies won't raise prices if their prior year premiums were already high enough to make all the payouts and still have money to return in refunds. There is simply no justification for raising prices now that we have seen them held accountable for those figures.
