Pardon the length - Morning Rant

Morning rant . . . It will be a cold day in Hell before I vote for a Republican or a candidate with an R next to his/her name even if they are the second (or first depending on your persuasion) coming of the Messiah. They have evidenced a complete and total lack of patriotism and caring for our citizens, our physical country, or the world (climate change is a universal problem and our policies affect it - look at Australia and think about California). Power is more important than continuing to live in a Democracy . . . in fact it may be more important to them than living altogether. While there may be one or a few non compromised or honest Republicans out there, they have either retired from public office or changed parties. As for the rest they are owned, bought and paid for by various entities none of which have the best interests of the rank and file American at heart. Here are some of the greatest hits (these are from memory but I think they’re pretty accurate):

Bush the younger - and say what you will he made a LOT of mistakes and had some piss poor guidance but I never doubted he loved the country. He left behind:
• He knew or at least was warned about a potential attack that ended up to be 9/11 and as far as we know did nothing about it
• He attacked Afghanistan to get Bin Laden, saying he was not into nation building - he didn’t get Bin Laden and the result has kept us in a “nation building war” for the last 18 years
• He gave tax cuts squandering the surplus we had when he took office (trickle down didn’t work for Reagan but they keep preaching it)
• He went into Iraq on incorrect pretexts (lies) - destabilized the region further by taking away one of the biggest containments of Iran and has kept us in another war, nation building, for the last 15+ years
• His relaxation of rules on Wall Street resulted in the recession of 2008 - bye bye surplus hello corporate and bank bail outs being necessary - at tax payer expense
Trump l’infant terrible - the list is so long I cannot recount it all here but I can give you some (the list is too long for all of them) of the lowlights:
• At the top of the list because they are and have been so persistent, is the lies, half truths, dissembling and self dealing
• The tax cuts that benefited only him and his percentile, with very little for the next group and virtually nothing for the average American
• The judges with which he has packed the courts many of whom have unfavorable and disqualified lack of endorsements
• Starting trade wars (trade wars are easy to win he said - we haven’t won yet) causing Farmers and industry to lose and resulting in his bailing them out for billions of taxpayer money - more than was used in 2008 for industry and banks by a lot!
• His behavior making him (and by extension our country) the laughing stock of much of the world
• His alienation of allies and his attraction to and praise of dictators and his apparent caving to their interests rather than ours
• His exacerbation of world situations exhibiting no foreign policy at all other than chaos - and firing those who understand it
• Destroying evidence or at the very least hiding it (where are the translator’s notes from his meeting with Putin? et al)
• Malicious and cruel attacks on people who oppose him, bullying and name calling worse than a toddler
• Mismanaging the government - running it with yes men and corrupt officials many of whom have not had senate approval because he prefers to just have acting managers rather than ones with accountability - and the senate allowing it!
• And his latest “hit” literally - attacking and killing an Iranian leader saying he should have been killed long ago
Republican Enablers - Congress critters and the party in general:
• Rubber stamping anything l’enfant terrible does rather than face the wrath of the tweet
• Many have received their campaign financing from foreign sources and may be complicit in his corruption (self preservation)
• Calling for programs that will harm the weakest among us - reduction in food stamps, social security (it’s OUR money folks!), medicare, medicaid, Obamacare destruction
• Working to ban abortions and interfering with a woman’s health and reproductive choices
• Violating the intent of the establishment clause, by inserting THEIR religious beliefs into our government without regard or respect for others
• In general violating their oaths of office for those who serve in elected positions by not maintaining the balance of powers and putting party over country

There is so much more (I haven't even begun to mention immigration, the wall, children in cages, etc.) - suffice it to say I cannot vote for or support anyone from this debased excuse for a once proud party. Kind of sad that we can no longer vote for a candidate we have to worry about the party that controls that candidate. And before anyone comes after me for partisanship let me say that I’m sure there are some on the other side of the aisle who are less than what I would like, and possibly in a similar league, but they are NOT the majority, and even when they hurt themselves, they do tend to purge rather than encourage and promote.

I can’t wait for the first political call I get this year from a conservative/rethug candidate promoter, where I plan to say, basically this.

I am never voting for anyone with an “R” by their name again. Because Donald Trump.

And nothing you say can change my mind. Ever.
