Josh Rogin: "Right now, we have two separate U.S. govt explanations for assassinating Soleimani."

Right now, we have two separate U.S. government explanations for assassinating Soleimani.

Pentagon: It was meant to deter future Iranian aggression.

Pompeo: "There was an imminent attack taking place" we needed to stop.

Could both be true? I suppose. But it's confusing.

I think Pompeo knows the meaning of imminent and is intentionally trying to create an equivalence of two different things.
